Attention nonresident hunters! The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has just announced an important update: starting now, you’ll notice a fee increase for nonresident archer and crossbow hunting licenses.
This change comes hot on the heels of Governor Tony Evers signing Senate Bill 780, now known as the 2023 Wisconsin Act 99.
Here’s what you need to know: the fees for nonresident archer and crossbow licenses have increased by $35, jumping from $165 to $200.
For newcomers purchasing a nonresident archer license, the fee has gone up by $17, from $82.75 to $99.75.

The DNR’s goal with this increase is to align the cost of archer and crossbow licenses with the cost of a firearm license.
But there’s a silver lining. The additional funds raised through this increase will be channeled into supporting wildlife habitat and management activities.
It’s worth noting that this isn’t the first fee adjustment; many nonresident hunting and fishing licenses saw a similar increase in July 2023, as part of the 2024-2025 state budget.
If you’re planning to hunt in the 2024 season, licenses are now available for purchase. They went on sale starting March 1, 2024, and are valid from April 1, 2024, through March 31, 2025.
You can purchase these licenses online through the Go Wild platform, at any DNR Service Center, or via authorized sales agent locations. Stay informed and happy hunting!
