I recently interviewed Nocturn Industries about their much-anticipated ALPHA Mount at SHOT Show 2024. It is set to offer a new perspective on helmet arms across various sectors.
The ALPHA or Adaptable Lightweight Powered Helmet Arm mount distinguishes itself as the lightest and lowest-stowing dovetail night vision mount in the current market. While the Wilcox G24 weighs 5.86 oz, the ALPHA tips the scales at only 2.65 oz (subject to change on final design).
Boasting ergonomic one-handed adjustments for fore/aft, height, and tilt, it also accommodates a proprietary powered dovetail shoe configuration. Whether in its non-powered or powered setups, the mount interfaces seamlessly with a standard dovetail shoe, securely locking into standard helmet shrouds.
Additionally, a breakaway position has been incorporated to mitigate the risk of neck injuries during usage.
Typically, these mounts offer around 1.2 inches of adjustment, but the ALPHA mount aims to push this to a more versatile 1.4 inches. This adjustment range caters to users employing gas masks or visors, enhancing the mount’s compatibility with various equipment.

To maximize efficiency, the design team has totally rethought what is necessary in a night vision mount. Nocturn Industries skeletonized the structure, making it lightweight and low profile.
This strategic design choice aims to meet the demands of users who prioritize mobility and minimalistic profiles in their equipment. The mount also boasts 15 degrees of tilt, breakaway features, and two adjustable positions.
When questioned about the release date, the team remains cautiously optimistic. Although still in the early stages of prototyping, they hoped to launch the ALPHA mount later this year.
As for the cost, Nocturn Industries is aiming to keep it accessible. The projected MSRP is expected to start below $400. This affordability factor may make the Alpha Mount an attractive option for a wide range of users across industries.
