At Shot Show 2024, Mountain Billy Gun Lab introduced their latest, the GOAT-15. An ultralight AR-style .22 rimfire rifle that weighs just 2.5 pounds and bears a resemblance to an AR-15.
This lightweight rifle has an adjustable stock and a free-float barrel, constructed primarily from polymer to help achieve its low weight.
The GOAT-15 was designed to be compact and easy to carry, it is targeted at those interested in survival, hunting, and some fun target shooting. I found it to be extremely fun to shoot!

I found another one of its main selling points to be the threaded barrel, which allows for suppressor attachment, catering to those who prefer a quieter shooting experiences.
Additionally, the rifle can be customized with accessories like scopes or red dot sights to suit different individual preferences. The standard 16-inch barrel is complemented by an optional shrouded barrel for those seeking an even lighter configuration.
Mountain Billy Gun Lab’s .22 rimfire rifle sports a patented safety mechanism intended to prevent accidental disengagement when carrying it in a backpack. While this feature may be of interest to some, it remains to be seen how well it performs in real-world scenarios.
The GOAT-15 is slated for release in early March. These will have an MSRP of $469 for the threaded barrel version and $449 for the shrouded barrel model.
This just might be one I add to my list just to have and shoot Whistle Pigs/Prairie Dogs. Find more from Mountain Billy Gun Lab here.
