Steyr obviously listened and took action to shooter inputs on their The L9- A1 pistol and the result is an upgraded A2 MF. The changes made on the A2 MF take Steyr’s 9mm to the next level. The A2 MF still has the low bore axis and comfortable feel of the old model but now also has modular grip panels of different sizes to allow it to be tailored by the shooter, this result in a grip better suited to all shooters.
In addition, a generously flared magwell was added to the bottom of the grip to speed up reloads for those tactical and competition environments. The forward accessory rail was also extended and standardized to the Picatinny 1913 spec for better light and laser mounting. Cocking serrations were also added to the front of the slide to match those on the rear for better manipulation of the slide.
Steyr kept the best features of the L9-A1 and added significantly to the platform to meet customer desires and expectations. The new A2 MF’s are available and you should be seeing them on your local shops shelves.

The good news is that the pistol platform wasn’t the only place Steyr was listening to feedback. They also heard the word and added a 6.5 Creedmoor option to most of their rifle models. So now you can have that legendary Steyr accuracy and 6.5 CM for your hunting or tactical rifle.
Last but certainly not least, as an honorable mention in the pretty and amazing engineering category I have to mention the new Steyr Monobloc rifle. The stock feels amazing and has leather inserts that can be had in different colors at the cheek, grip and forend. However, the impressive part of this rifle is that the barrel and receiver are all one piece.
I’m no engineer, but I know that is not the easiest way to make a rifle but it does ensure everything is lined up and true when it’s all made from one piece of metal- impressed. These rifles are not yet available for sale in the US; with a date to be determined.
