Introduction

As a woman who loves hunting and the outdoors, I am always looking for a rifle that is powerful, accurate, lightweight, and easy to handle. That’s why I was excited to try out the new Springfield Armory Model 2020 Redline rifle in 308 Win with a 16 inch barrel. This is a bolt-action rifle that is designed for hunting and long-range shooting, with a carbon-fiber-jacketed barrel, a Grayboe Trekker stock, and a removable muzzle brake. I wanted to see how it performed in the field, so I took it to my favorite shooting spot in Idaho, where I had a chance to test it on some targets.

Performance

The performance of the Springfield Redline rifle was impressive in several aspects:

Weight and Balance

The first thing I noticed about the Redline rifle was how light it was. It weighs only 6.2 pounds, which is impressive for a 308 rifle. The carbon-fiber-jacketed barrel is not only light, but also very stiff and durable, which helps reduce barrel whip and improve accuracy. The barrel also has 5/8×24 threading, which allows you to attach a suppressor or other muzzle device. The rifle comes with a radial muzzle brake that reduces recoil and muzzle rise, but you can easily remove it if you prefer. The barrel has a 1:10 twist rate, which is ideal for stabilizing heavier bullets.

Comfort and Ergonomics

The second thing I noticed was how comfortable the stock was. The Grayboe Trekker stock is made of fiberglass and epoxy, which makes it strong and stable. It has a skeletonized design that reduces weight and improves balance. The stock also has an adjustable length of pull (with spacers) and a rubber recoil pad, which make it easy to fit the rifle to your body and shooting style. The stock has a textured surface and a palm swell, which provide a secure and ergonomic grip. The stock also has three sling swivel studs for attaching a sling or a bipod.

Action and Reliability

The third thing I noticed was how smooth the action was. The Model 2020 action is a custom-grade action that is machined from pre-hardened stainless steel. It has a fluted bolt body, a dual cocking cam, which make it fast and reliable. The rifle comes with a detachable box magazine that holds three rounds.

Accuracy and Consistency

The fourth thing I noticed was how accurate the rifle was. It easily met the 3 shot .75 MOA Guarantee. I used hunting ammo from both Hornady and Remington.

Fun Factor

The fifth and final thing I noticed was how fun the rifle was to shoot. I was able to shoot out to 465 yards. The rifle is capable of shooting much further but the scope I was using would only allow for 14 MOA in the turret.

Conclusion

In conclusion, the Springfield Armory Model 2020 Redline rifle in 308 Win with a 16 inch barrel is a fantastic rifle that offers a lot of features and performance for a reasonable price. It is a light, rugged, comfortable, smooth, accurate, and fun rifle that is ideal for hunting and long-range shooting. It is a rifle that I would highly recommend to anyone who is looking for a versatile and reliable 308 rifle.
