For 2020, Savage adds a new member to its legendary 110 Series of rifles. Dubbed the 110 UltraLite, this streamlined rifle, depending on caliber, boasts a mass weight between 5.8 and 6 pounds. Like all rifles in the 110 Series, the UltraLite was built around the Model 110’s much-coveted action, which is said by many to be one of the most accurate factory systems ever created.
One thing that makes the 110 Series such a hit is the fact that each rifle was crafted with a specific purpose in mind. Fitted with an AccuFit Grey Synthetic Stock that allows for both comb-height and length-of-pull adjustment and an exclusive Proof Research Carbon Fiber Wrap barrel, it became quickly apparent this rifle was designed for those looking to wander off the beaten path in search of big-game nirvana. In addition to the barrel, the spiral fluted bolt body aids in overall weight reduction. The rifle is said by Savage to be a dream to tote, and while you can plan on a full field-test in the coming months, we will say after handling the rifle for a brief period, that it feels like a feather in your hands.
The magazine box on the 110 UltraLite is of the detachable blend, and the barrel, like throngs of today’s modern rifles, is fitted with a threaded (5/8-24) muzzle break. This, of course, allows for the addition of a suppressor. The rifle’s receiver is a skeletonized Melonite QPQ receiver, and the trigger is Savage’s famed AccuTrigger.
Another hat-tipper of the 110 UltraLite is the caliber offerings, which include 308 WIN, 6.5 Creedmoor, 280 Ackley Improved, 270 WIN, 30-06 SPRG, 300 WSM, 6.5 PRC AND 28 Nosler.
The 110 UltraLite is branded with an MSRP of $1,499 and will be available by the end of February.
Also new and exciting from Savage is the 110 Precision and 110 Elite Precision; a pair of rifles offered in an array of calibers ideal for those looking to punch both targets and critters at extended distances.
