Browning Unveils AI Trail Cameras — SHOT Show 2025

Browning has introduced its 2025 lineup of trail cameras, showcasing advancements in artificial intelligence (AI), transmission speeds, and live streaming features.

Brent from Browning provided insights into the latest models, including the Defender Pro Scout AI, Defender Vision Pro, and the Defender Vision Pro Live.

Here’s a breakdown of what each camera offers.

Defender Pro Scout AI: Smarter Sorting, Longer Battery Life

The Defender Pro Scout AI is a trail camera designed for efficiency and clarity. Equipped with a 46-megapixel sensor and AI capabilities, this camera processes images directly at the camera level, unlike most other cameras that rely on app or web-level sorting.

The AI feature automatically identifies deer in images, transmitting only relevant photos to the user. This streamlined process reduces data transfer and communication time with the server, leading to extended battery life—users can expect 8–9 months of operation per battery cycle.

Key improvements include:

  • 125% better image quality than previous models.
  • Five times faster transmission speeds thanks to a Cat One chipset.
  • Price & Availability: $139, available starting March 15, 2025.

Defender Vision Pro: Red Glow for Enhanced Night Photos

The Defender Vision Pro offers many of the same features as the Pro Scout AI but includes a red-glow flash for improved night photography. While the red glow is visible, it enhances clarity in nighttime images. This model also benefits from faster transmission speeds, extended battery life, and AI image sorting at the camera level.

  • Price & Availability: $130, available March 15, 2025.

Defender Vision Pro Live: Affordable Live Streaming

Browning is entering the live-streaming trail camera market with the Defender Vision Pro Live, a reasonable option priced at $199. The camera offers real-time streaming with two subscription plans:

  1. $19.99/month for 30 minutes of live streaming, unlimited images, and 12 HD video downloads.
  2. $24.99/month for 50 minutes of live streaming, unlimited images, and 12 HD video downloads.

Additional minutes can be purchased for $9 per 30 minutes, and unused minutes roll over to the next month. This flexibility makes the Vision Pro Live suitable for both wildlife enthusiasts and security applications, such as monitoring a boathouse or remote property.

  • Price & Availability: $199, available April 15, 2025.

Updates to Existing Models

In addition to the new releases, Browning has upgraded its Command Ops, Strike Force, and Dark Ops models. These now feature 40-megapixel sensors, raising the bar for image clarity across their lineup.

While some might argue that 40–46 megapixels is overkill, Brent emphasized the importance of continuous improvement in the competitive trail camera market:

“If you’re not getting better, you’re getting left behind,” he said.

Browning’s 2025 trail cameras promise smarter functionality, better image quality, and more user-friendly options.
