In a nostalgic throwback, Springfield Armory has unveiled their latest creation, the SA-16A2, at SHOT Show 2024. The mysterious SA-16A2, dubbed the “Easter egg gun of the booth,” apparently caused quite a stir.
While not officially existing in the catalog or having a set price, Mike revealed to us that the firearm is a throwback to the ’80s and early ’90s. It presents a “full retro vibe” that caught the attention of many gun aficionados.
Some of the highlights include a burst selector and Springfield Armory “government property” markings on the lower receiver. The firearm boasts external authenticity, featuring correct handguards, front sight, A2 flash suppressor, a fixed-carry handle, along with a bayonet lug.
Despite its classic appearance, internal tweaks have been made to enhance performance, to take advantage of the improvement in AR technology over the years.
