Beretta 1301 Tactical Mod. 2 — SHOT Show 2024

Estimated reading time: 3 minutes

True and I got a chance to visit the Beretta Range Day at Shot Show 2024. We had the opportunity to catch up with John at the shotgun line to dive into the revamped Beretta 1301 Tactical Shotgun Mod. 2. Here’s the scoop on what’s new with this model.

First off, the 1301 Tactical now sports an aggressive grip texture on its forend, incorporating the M-Lok system seen in previous A300 Patrol models.

A notable change is its two-piece tube, allowing shooters to customize the magazine capacity more easily than before. Speaking of capacity, it starts at 7+1 but can be extended with aftermarket tube extensions.

One of the most significant upgrades is the pro-style lifter. It stays up and out of the way, facilitating smooth and easy loading. The trigger has also been revamped to a semi-flat style, offering a distinctly different and improved shooting experience.

The standard stock, currently shipping in black, has seen some aesthetic changes too. Beretta is bringing back color options, including Flat Dark Earth, OD Green, and Wolf Gray. Additionally, the 1301 Tactical is available with a Mesa Tactical pistol grip in both black and Flat Dark Earth.

Looking ahead, Beretta plans to introduce the Mod 2 with a Chisel Machining stock. This limited-edition variant will likely feature a folding capacity and the ability to mount AR-style grips. The stock also allows for mounting a red dot sight directly in line with your sight, along with adjustable cheek risers and easy length-of-pull modification.

In terms of pricing, the standard stock version is around $1,849, with the pistol grip model slightly higher at $1949. There’s a small price variation between the black and colored versions.

The 1301 Tactical Mod 2 also boasts new features like a Picatinny rail, adjustable front sight, and a redesigned texture for enhanced handling. Beretta has plans to offer these upgrades as aftermarket parts for Mod 1 owners, ensuring versatility and customization for existing Beretta enthusiasts.

For those curious about the new lifter design, it significantly eases the loading process by staying out of the way, complemented by a well-beveled tube for smooth round insertion.

Make sure to check out more on the Beretta 1301 Tactical Mod 2 on the Beretta website. And, as always, stay safe and keep shooting!
