Beretta is focused on expanding its premium A400 Xtreme Plus line of semi-automatic hunting shotguns. They’re adding new camo patterns and later this year, a left-handed model as well. All three new models are chambered for up to 3.5-inch 12-gauge shells for use with all types of ammo.
The new camo patterns are Realtree, Max-5 and Mossy Oak’s Bottomland. Beretta is also adding a model with a plain dark grey receiver and matte black synthetic furniture for a few dollars less.
These A400 Xtreme Plus shotguns feature Beretta’s Kick-Off recoil-mitigating stocks and come with 5 20mm extended chokes from the factory. They come with Beretta’s Steelium alloy barrels using their Optima profile, with stepped steel ribs, a steel mid bead and a front fiber optic sight.
The Optima profile uses a very long forcing cone, measuring over 14 inches long, that ensures tight patterning and less shot deformation. All A400 Xtreme Plus shotguns have reversible safeties and drilled and tapped receivers for optics.
All of the new shotguns use Beretta’s Blink gas-piston system. The Blink system uses a sealed gas piston assembly to reduce fouling and will self-clean during hard use. Beretta promises 10,000 rounds between cleaning sessions using this system.
Another advantage of the Blink system is rapid cycling. This helps hunters get as much shot in the air in less time. The shotguns are also compatible with aftermarket magazine tube extensions.

Other A400 Xtreme Plus details include oversized charging handles, enlarged and extended bolt releases and high-visibility green followers for use in low-light conditions. The loading ports are enlarged and beveled and the loading gates are also oversized.
The combined Kick-Off system reduces recoil with two hydraulic dampeners built into the stocks. The stocks telescope under recoil to smooth out the impulse and reduce muzzle rise. The grips and stock combs are cushioned for added comfort.
Beretta is offering all three new models with the option of 26- or 28-inch barrels. The Realtree and Mossy Oak models have a suggested retail price of $1,900 while the Synthetic models list for $1,750.
