Weatherby, Inc. is happy to announce the new, expansive Mark V Hunter line of premium bolt-action rifles. Based on their well-traveled Mark V action, the Hunter line carries a lot of the same great features, now in a simple and lightweight configuration for all terrains.

Like the Backcountry 2.0 series launched earlier this year, the Hunter series uses Weatherby’s streamlined synthetic stock with a flat forend, palm swell pistol grip and aluminum pillar design. The stock drops some trimmings such as an adjustable cheekpiece or multiple forend sling swivels to cut weight for long days in the field.

All of the Mark V Hunter rifles come threaded for suppressors and other muzzle devices as well as threaded bolts for interchangeable bolt knobs. They have a Cobalt Cerakote finish on the bolt, barrel and receiver and a Granite speckle finish on the stock.

Weatherby will offer the Mark V in a wide range of chamberings from .240 Weatherby Magnum all the way up to .300 Weatherby Mag. Other options include .243 Winchester, .25-06 Remington, .257 Weatherby Mag., 6.5 Creedmoor, 6.5 Weatherby Rebated Precision Magnum, .270 Win., .270 Weatherby Mag., .280 Ackley Improved, 7mm-08 Rem., 7mm Rem. Mag., 7mm Weatherby mag., .308 Win., .30-06 Springfield, .300 Win. Mag. and .300 Weatherby Mag.

All use the trusted Mark V action in standard and Magnum lengths, with either a 6- or 9-lug interrupted thread locking “three rings of steel” system with three gas relief ports in the bolt body in case of an ammo failure. It’s a push-feed action with a very short 54-degree bolt throw for fast follow-up shots.

To help make cycling the action even smoother Weatherby flutes the bolts to reduce friction and clear away dirt and debris. The short bolt throw also lets shooters use a very wide range of optics without having to worry about clearance issues.

As with other premium Weatherby rifles the Mark V series comes with a sub-MOA 3-shot accuracy guarantee at 100 yards, using Weatherby or similar match-grade ammunition. They include a Triggertech Frictionless zero-creep adjustable trigger that can be set from 1.5 to 4 pounds.

Depending on the configuration the Mark V Hunter rifles have barrels running from 22 to 26 inches long. By combining a light barrel profile and synthetic stock these rifles weigh around 7 pounds, give or take, down to as little as 6 pounds unloaded without a sling or scope.

Pricing for Mark V Hunter rifles is $1,499 across the board. For more information about these and other Weatherby products, head over to Weatherby today.
