Total gangster!

Editor’s note: Whistle pig hunting season is kicking off in Idaho, which means it’s time to gun up with the appropriate tool for the job: Ruger’s 10/22 Autoloading rifle.

Correctly billed as “America’s favorite .22 rifle for the past 50 years,” the 10/22 is about as American as apple pie and as ubiquitous as a Ford truck.  But there’s one problem with the traditional 10/22.  It lacks flair.

Have you ever seen “Office Space”?  That scene where Jennifer Aniston gets berated because she’s only wearing 15 personalized flair buttons instead of being decked out in full regalia (37 flair buttons) like her indefatigable coworker, Brian?  That’s what the regular 10/22 is.  It’s the uninspired, Jennifer Aniston employee. It needs more flair!

P.S. For those of you who are sensitive to the word “gangster” because of its affiliation with street violence, please note that in this context “gangster” is meant to be taken in the non-literal, amusing sense of the word.

We shouldn’t have to clarify this as it should be obvious that our use of the word is meant to be entertaining.  Yet some readers will indubitably point out that we shouldn’t use “gangster” when referring to customized rifles because it plays into the false narrative created by anti-gunners that “all firearms are evil, but some firearms are more evil than others and thus should be banned.”  Well, screw the anti-gunners!  We’re not going to kowtow to their ridiculous logic.  We’re having fun this weekend.  They can go suck on a tailpipe.
